Company History
For the first four years, the business was located in the Greater Salt Lake City area of Utah and specialized in embedded systems design services.
In the spring of 2001, Uinta West was relocated to the Phoenix Metro area of Arizona, with a revised mission of providing early stage startup companies with “Angel” type technical assistance. Multiple startup companies were assisted during this period, in return for equity.
In the fall of 2010, Uinta West was reorganized into Daniel Development Group, LLC, offering an expanded range of fee-based engineering services with a presence in both Arizona and Utah. DDG retained the original Uinta West name and mission for its ventures business unit.

Leslie Daniel
President and Co-Founder
Leslie is an experienced mechanical engineer with an emphasis in manufacturing, production, process and quality engineering. Her expertise includes Six Sigma process improvement, Process FMEAs, QS-9000 standards and requirements, Lean manufacturing, Class 1000 and Class 10,000 cleanroom protocols, automated and manual assembly, ergonomic factors in assembly processes, manufacturing fixtures, product improvements for manufacturability, quality and manufacturing documentation. Leslie is highly skilled at business management, supplier, customer, and production personnel relations. Leslie graduated Magna Cum laude with a BS in MET from Weber State University and she also holds a BS degree in economics from Washington State University. Her background includes process engineering positions with Dupont Holographics, Autoliv ASP, and National Standard.
David Daniel
PhD, CTO and Co-Founder
Dr. Daniel has over 30 years of experience as an engineer, researcher, and engineering leader in the electronics industry, focusing on embedded systems, data communications and networks. Dr. Daniel earned his MSEE from Utah State University and a Ph.D. in EE from Arizona State University. Past positions include CTO for Hotwire Development where David provided technical guidance and engineering expertise to multiple start-up companies. Dr. Daniel’s background includes work at L-3 Communications, focusing on advanced networking and cognitive technologies (AI, autonomous systems and machine learning). Dr. Daniel has also served as the Director of Hardware Engineering at Sorenson Vision in Logan, Utah, working on early stage development of Universal Serial Bus video conferencing ASICs and peripherals. As Director of Engineering for Mobility Electronics in Scottsdale, Arizona, David helped pioneer the development of PCI bus serialization and computer expansion techniques. David holds extensive IP in the areas of computing, networks, embedded systems & controls, and virtualization with 17 patents granted and additional pending
Dustin Daniel
Software/Firmware Development
Dustin is a hands-on developer with a background in laboratory research, technical investigations, technical analysis, and technical writing. Dustin holds a Professional Science Master's (P.S.M.) degree in Applied Biosciences from the University of Arizona. His software expertise includes Java, C, XML, and SQL. He has experience with several development environments: Android Studio, NetBeans, Eclipse, TI Code Composer Studio, phpMyAdmin, BlueJ, and Keil uVision. He has co-authorship credits on two biochemistry papers published in peer-reviewed journals.
